Apex Engineering, PLLC is a full-service engineering firm headquartered in Calvert City, Kentucky, incorporated in 1974 to provide multi-discipline engineering services for industrial clients.

Apex Engineering, PLLC is a full-service multi-discipline engineering firm headquartered at 326 E 5th Avenue in Calvert City, Kentucky, incorporated in 1974 to serve industrial clients. Apex provides civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineering under one roof, along with scoping and feasibility studies, estimating, procurement, EPC delivery, field installation supervision, and construction management. Specialty capabilities include pressure vessel design, thermal stress analysis for piping, pneumatic conveying and dust collection system design, NFPA compliant explosion prevention and protection, power studies, and 3D structural scanning.

Our clients include major producers of specialty chemicals, polymers, refrigerants, nonferrous metals, coal, aggregates, electric power generation, rubber, elastomer products, pulp, paper and energetics manufacturers. From small engineering tasks to large scale design/build projects, Apex has established continuing client relationships lasting over 50 years, attributed to quality, fast response, and engineering excellence. In 1988, Apex established an engineering office at 5521 Industrial Road in Mt. Vernon, Indiana.

In 1996, Apex Engineering established a subsidiary, Apex Controls Specialists, LLC (ACS). Apex Controls Specialists is a control systems integrator based in Mount Vernon, Indiana that designs, programs, and commissions PLC, HMI, SCADA, and motion control systems for industrial manufacturers. ACS programs on Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Emerson, and Modicon PLC platforms and develops HMI and SCADA applications in FactoryTalk Optix, FactoryTalk View SE and ME, Ignition, Cimplicity, and Wonderware.

ACS holds Rockwell Automation System Integrator Capability certifications in Control, Visualization/HMI, Low Voltage Drives, and General Motion. ACS also operates a UL508A listed control panel shop with a qualified MTR representative on staff. Typical ACS work includes legacy PLC migrations converting MicroLogix, SLC, and PLC-5 systems to CompactLogix and ControlLogix, industrial network design, and SCADA systems for batch and continuous process plants.

In 2000, Apex used this synergy to develop Apex Modular Extrusion Systems, which designs and builds modular extrusion and compounding systems. We also do Apex Modular Extrusion System retrofits to previous generation extruder controls with current hardware, IIoT analytics, and CIP security.

Because Apex Engineering and Apex Controls Specialists operate as one organization, a single team can carry a project from process design and structural work through PLC programming, panel fabrication, and startup, without handoffs between an engineering firm and a separate integrator. Apex works nationwide, supporting projects at client facilities across the United States.
