Apex Modular Extrusion Systems (AME) is a line of pre-engineered, shop-built modular extrusion and compounding systems developed by Apex Engineering, PLLC and Apex Controls Specialists, LLC. Each system is designed, assembled, and tested in the shop, then shipped to the client site for reassembly, delivering a complete compounding line without the schedule and cost of conventional stick-built construction. The AME modular extrusion system is protected by US Patent 8,894,398, Modular Plastics Extrusion Apparatus.

What makes these systems unique to the industry is the flexibility for the owner to select the equipment and control platform to meet existing plant standards or needs. Also unique is the way the module is assembled.

Once erected, it resembles a normal process line. It can integrate into a traditional processing building or is low profile enough to slide right into a warehouse type building. Connecting the electrical systems is truly a plug and play approach using safe disconnect rated plugs.

Erection couldn't be simpler with an erect by number assembly. A process line can be making product approximately 15 to 20 days from delivery. State of the art control software is included, specifically tailored for the plant floor interfaces. Again, flexibility is the name of the game offering the owner a choice of control platforms, or if none preferred, Allen Bradley is used by default.

A compounding control center (CCC) accompanies the process module. All wiring to the field is minimized using Ethernet, remote I/O and intelligent MCC. Control systems are engineered by Apex Controls Specialists, which integrates extruders, feeders, drive systems, and pelletizers onto a single PLC over Ethernet, with historical trending, OEE, recipe management, and lot tracking included.

Apex and ACS have generations of systems installed in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Asia. Apex Engineering handles design, assembly, installation, and startup as a single source, minimizing the engineering and project management resources required from the client.
